Lottery scam matters again dominate St James Circuit Court
Created : 10 January 2017
According to Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Claudette Thompson, over the next four weeks there are 124 cases on the list for trial.
Of that amount, lottery scamming accounts for 45, and murder sits in second place with 34 cases.
Meanwhile, noting that the number of jurors who turned up for duties is disheartening, Thompson told the court that she will be relying on new legislation which allows for the trial of cases without jurors.
She pointed out that of the 400 summonses prepared for jury duties, only 24 of that number were served.
Justice Bertram Morrison is presiding over the matters.
