Let's Talk About: Should the Obeah Act be repealed?

Jamaican legislators are looking at repealing the Obeah Act.

The move has drawn mixed reactions from the public as the practice of obeah has long been viewed as evil by Jamaicans.

The practice, which was brought to Jamaica by African slaves, was made illegal by colonisers in 1898. Since then the law has remained on the books.
