Lawyers for NESOL engineer, co-accused to make bail applications today
The attorneys representing the chief engineer at the state-run National Energy Solutions (NESOL), 33-year-old Lawrence Pommels and his co-accused, 34-year-old mechanic, Ricardo Harris, are expected to make bail applications on their behalf in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.
The two have been in custody since June 7 when police swooped down on premises they occupied at New Harbor Village in Old Harbour, St Catherine and seized $35 million in cash, four high end motor vehicles including a BMW X6 and an Audi and other valuables.
Lawrence was reportedly in charge at NESOL at the time of his arrest. NESOL previously operated as the Rural Electrification Programme but its mandate has been widened from just bringing electricity to rural communities.
The two men were arrested after a high level probe involving investigators from the Constabulary Financial Unit of the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch as well as the Financial Investigation Division.
