Kingsman takes New Year's Day Trophy; Subratie saddles two winners

Trainer Gary Subratie opened the new racing season at Caymanas Park with back-to-back winners on Wednesday, five-furlong straight specialist, K D FLYER, and CRIMSON in the Fan Appreciation Day Trophy at nine furlongs and 25 yards.

CRIMSON swooped down on a trio of horses being led by HARRY'S TRAIN coming off the turn and quickened under Anthony Thomas, winning ahead of late-closing 10-year-old, HOVER CRAFT.

Down-in-class K D FLYER ran on late in the fourth race at five furlongs straight to grab ADONIS, who was repeatedly bothered by STANISLAUS, one of two horses running loose after a spill at the start.

Meanwhile, IAN Parsard's KINGSMAN produced the performance of the afternoon, clocking an impressive 1:18.3, with apprentice Kiaman McGregor, to outclass rivals in the six-and-half furlong New Year's Day Trophy.

UNBREAKABLE, the 1-2 favourite, ran away from TOP EAGLE down the backstretch to win by five lengths with Omar Walker at nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Racing continues on Saturday.
