KCNK salutes outstanding members, sponsors at 29th Anniversary meeting
Some of the Club Presidents and Secretaries over the 29 years cutting the Anniversary cake.
It was certainly an evening of celebration at the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston’s (KCNK's) 29th Anniversary club meeting held last Wednesday.
The Club took the opportunity to thank all the corporate and media sponsors who supported their projects and activities to help the less fortunate, and to recognize and award the members of the club who had served over the last year, October, 2017 to September, 2018.
KCNK is a group of professional and business women who came together to give service through the first all-female club in the Kiwanis movement in Jamaica. The Club, which forms a part of Division 23 East in the Eastern Canada & Caribbean District, was organized on September 6, 1989 and chartered on November 14, 1989, under the principles of Kiwanis International.

The Club is committed to the field of education and has worked extensively with children including the mentally and physically challenged. Over the last 29 years it has helped to provide opportunities for at risk youth in vulnerable communities, deepen scholarships in schools, and build leadership and entrepreneurial drives among young men and women.
The Club is particularly proud of its role in and commitment to Kiwanis’ Service Leadership Programme, sponsoring K-Kids Clubs, Builders Clubs, Key Clubs, a Circle K Club, and an Aktion Club in Primary, Preparatory, High and Tertiary Schools. These Youth Clubs promote personal growth in its members through leadership development, service to school, community and nation and fellowship activities, inter alia. KCNK’s legacy is a rich and vibrant one which clearly demonstrates their commitment to Kiwanis Service and to serving the Children of Jamaica and the World.

As a result of these efforts, the Club has achieved distinguished status in the International Kiwanis movement, has maintained a rich and distinguished record of outstanding leadership, achievement and service to the nation, and has won many International, District and Division awards for outstanding service projects.
All of this, the Club said, would not be possible without the kind sponsorship received and the hard work and service given by KCNK’s members. The Club saluted corporate and media sponsors who assisted and all the Kiwanians who served.
The following Kiwanians were recognized for their support at the Anniversary Meeting:
Godfrey Dyer Medallion Award - Kiwanian Judith Francis
