JWN Foundation volunteers donate books on Read Across Jamaica Day

The J Wray & Nephew (JWN) Foundation took its community outreach initiatives into the classrooms on Read Across Jamaica Day, on May 7, with 37 JWN staff volunteers visiting 10 schools in areas it operates in Kingston, Clarendon and St Elizabeth, to read to students.

The JWNF volunteers read from books by Jamaican authors – “Little Lion goes to School”, “Little Lion at Bat” and “Little Lion goes for Gold”, by Kellie Magnus and following the reading, books were donated, as well as copies of “Little Island- Big Adventures”, by Marie Roberts Squires, and “Ash the Flash”, by Hazel D. Campbell and Nattalie Gordon, to the schools’ libraries, as part of the JWN Foundation’s commitment to supporting literacy programmes within our schools.

The schools visited were: Kingston - Seaview Gardens Primary, Seaward Gardens Primary, Balmagie Primary and St Patrick’s Primary; Clarendon - Race Course Primary and Gimme-Me Bit Primary; St Elizabeth - Appleton Basic, Holland Primary, Siloah Primary and Middlesex Infant.
