Juvenile arrested in connection with gun seizure in Westmoreland

The police continue to work to rid the streets of illegal firearms and ammunition, with the latest seizures being of two firearms in Westmoreland on Friday, October 12.

Reports are that about 2:00 p.m., officers conducted an operation in Darliston in the parish, where a premises was searched and one 9mm Luger pistol with a magazine containing thirteen 9mm rounds of ammunition, was seized.

An additional thirty three 9mm rounds were seized during the same operation.

A juvenile was taken into custody in relation to the seizure. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

A few hours later, between the hours of 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., a 9mm Stalker 2918-S pistol with an empty magazine was seized at a premises on Norman Manley Boulevard in the parish.

No one was arrested in connection with that seizure.

The police are appealing to residents with information relating to the seizures to assist with the investigations by contacting the Savanna-la-Mar police at 876-955-2536, the police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311, 811 or the nearest police station.
