JUTC tells commuters to expect delays from Hagley Park Road project

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is warning commuters to brace for extended delays, as the road improvement works being undertaken by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) on behalf of the National Works Agency (NWA) in the Hagley Park Road/Three Miles area of St Andrew is expected to negatively impact its operations through to June 2019.

The state-run bus company has moved to inform commuters who live, work or traverse these areas, and who use the relevant routes, that its operations will be significantly impacted as the works intensify.

“We are projecting that in July/August there will be impact on our schedules, (which will result in) extended passenger travel time. Passengers are, therefore, being encouraged to come out earlier than usual, to prevent unusually long delays, as this area is heavily trafficked,” the JUTC said in a statement.

“We are appealing to commuters to exercise patience and understanding, as the improvement work is scheduled for completion in June 2019,” the JUTC indicated.
