JUTC bus shot up in Portmore, buses remain diverted

As a result, buses have been diverted from the area.

JUTC marketing and communications manager Reginald Allen told Loop News that buses will continue to avoid the area as sporadic gunfire have been reported there up to an hour ago.

“We can’t put buses in an area that isn’t safe,” Allen said.

The bus that was shot up is a Number 12 that plies the Naggo Head to downtown, Kingston route, Allen said.

The incident occurred around 2:10, he reported.

“The driver and the passengers were not injured, fortunately, but the bus got significant damage on the left side,” said Allen.

He estimated that it will cost taxpayers close to a million dollars to replace the glass and whatever other repairs needed on the damaged bus.
