Jubilee ‘baby snatcher’ remanded in custody

The woman who is accused of having stolen a baby from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in downtown Kingston in January, was on Monday remanded in custody when she appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

The female who has been identified as Peta-Gaye Ffrench of a Harkers Hall, St Catherine address, was told that she would have to remain in custody until at least March 13, when her case will again be mentioned.s

Ffrench was charged with child-stealing last Monday.

Meanwhile, the attorney representing the 27-year-old female has requested a psychiatric evaluation of the accused.

Ffrench was recently held trying to process the stolen baby at the Registrar General's Department (RGD) in Twickenham Park, St Catherine. Her efforts failed because discrepancies were reportedly noted with her account of the child’s birth.
