JMMB Preference shares, First Rock led gains during Friday’s trading
JMMB Preference shares and First Rock Capital led gains during Friday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
JMMB Preference shares gained 7.6 per cent to close at $1.08 followed by First Rock which gained 7.4 per cent to close at $13.49.
The top declining stock on the day was IronRock Insurance, which dipped 11.0 per cent to close at $2.85.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 765.70 points (0.21 per cent) to close at 364,025.60; the JSE Index declined by 775.38 points (0.21 per cent) to close at 366,050.38 and the Junior Market Index declined by 4.86 points (0.19 per cent) to close at 2,531.26.
The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.10 points (0.05 per cent) to close at 185.97, while the JSE Financial Index declined by 0.43 points (0.44 per cent) to close at 96.33.
Also on the day, the JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index declined by 0.16 points (0.22 per cent) to close at 73.34.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 71 stocks of which 26 advanced, 32 declined and 13 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 61,370,326 units valued at over $320.3 million. Carreras Limited was the volume leader with 40,150,858 units (65.42 per cent) followed by Sagicor Select Funds M&D with 8,094,923 units (13.19per cent) and Wigton Windfarm with 4,201,229 units (6.85 per cent) .
