JFF to stage Advanced Level 1 Coaching course
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) will stage an Advanced Level 1 Coaching Course from July 6-23.
The course is the first stage of certification under the JFF's coaching education program and coaches at all levels of coaching should be Advanced Level 1 certified at the minimum.
After 10 years of holding these courses and certifying some 700 coaches at both Advanced Level 1 and Advanced Level 2, the JFF has reviewed the content of the Level 1 and invited additional instructors to lead the module.
The new instructors for the technical module are Merron Gordon; Vassel Reynolds and Rudolph Speid. All three coaches recently participated in the Concacaf B Licence Pilot project which took place in Jamaica. They join Director of Football Wendell Downswell, Andre Virtue, Clive Wedderburn who all administer in the Technical module.
The courses continue to be done in partnership with the University of Technology (Utech) who delivers the Science module of the course. Utech oversees the certification process, including the examinations and ensures the number of hours are in keeping with the level of certification.
The JFF Coaching education program is sponsored by the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation which has partnered with the JFF and Utech for 10 years, making it one of the longest periods of sponsorship support in football.
The course will take place at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Center of Excellence.
Topics for the course will include Ethics of Football Coaching; Fitness Development Theory; Planning and Preparing the Training Session: Technical and Tactical Development: Laws of the Game; Anatomy; Safeguarding and Biomechanics.
