Embattled real estate attorney, Jennifer Messado is facing more criminal charges.
Investigators from the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) laid additional charges of forgery and obtaining money under false pretense against the prominent attorney on Tuesday.
Police said the new charges stem from an allegation that in June 2017, Messado prepared an Agreement of Sale for a property without the knowledge and consent of the owners.
"It is alleged that Messado forged the signature of the mortgager to facilitate the fictitious transaction and collected US$150,000 as down payment for the prospective purchaser," the police said.
She is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court in that matter on Tuesday, September 11.
It's just the latest accusation of misconduct against the lawyer, who faces a number of fraud charges including an accusation that she defrauded entertainer Mavado of almost $31 million.
