A Marine Police boat team searching for the missing and then presumed drowned men off the Treasure Beach coastline on Monday.

The two men who drowned at the Frenchman’s Beach in Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth on Monday, have been identified, with one of the bodies already recovered.

They are Joseph Anderson, a Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier of May Day, Mandeville, and 26-year-old Kevon Gayle, a student of Northern Caribbean University (NCU) and resident of Avondale, both in the parish of Manchester.

Reports are that about 3:20 p.m., both men were swimming at the beach when they experienced difficulties and were swept away by the waters.

Anderson’s body was recovered in mid-morning on Tuesday, but challenges, primarily the reported presence of sharks in the area, have prevented the recovery of Gayle’s body, which has reportedly been sighted off-shore.
