The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) joins many in the business community and the civil society, in mourning the passing of Noel Hylton.
“Hylton’s name will long be associated with the development and expansion of the nation’s port and shipping infrastructure through his long and far-sighted tenure at the Port Authority of Jamaica and earlier at the Shipping Association of Jamaica,” the JCC said in a press release.
The JCC further noted that, as a public servant, Hylton performed at the at the highest level, unconcerned with the politics of the day, even as he tirelessly set the wheels in motion for expansion and growth of the country’s port facilities to the point where today they are among the region’s finest.
“It was in no small measure due to his work that the country could contemplate Jamaica being a hemispheric hub for transhipment and even more grandly dream of becoming a global logistics hub,” the release said.
“We extend our condolences to his wide network of family, friends and colleagues.”
