Jamaican Teas, Blue Power record gains on Wednesday
Jamaican Teas and Blue Power Group led trading gains during Wednesday's trading as both companies plan steps to list operational segments.
Blue Power gained 14 per cent to close at $8.78 while Jamaican Teas gained 13.2 per cent to close at $7.93 on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
Blue Power plans to separate its soap and lumber division into two separately traded entities on the JSE. That offer will be conducted by lead broker Mayberry Investments.
Jamaican Teas announced that it would separate its Qwi stock investment portfolio for listing in an initial public offer that opens next week.
Meanwhile, the JSE Combined Index declined by 1,341.03 points ( 0.26 per cent) to close at 512,989.96. The JSE Index declined by 594.41 points ( 0.11 per cent) to close at 517,224.50.
The Junior Market Index declined by 72.87 points ( 2.07 per cent) to close at 3,441.82 and the JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.09 points ( 0.05 per cent) to close at 194.45. The JSE Financial Index advanced by 0.24 points ( 0.17 per cent) to close at 141.83.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 66 stocks of which 21 advanced, 41 declined and 4 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 53,417,312 units valued at over $123.1 million. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 30,798,379 units (57.6 per cent)followed by Sagicor Select Fund with 10,371,508 units (19.42per cent) and JMMB Group 7.50per cent with 6,003,358 units (11.24per cent) .
