Jamaican security guard shot dead during robbery in St Lucia

A Jamaican security guard was shot dead during an armed robbery at a gas station in Balata in Castries, St Lucia on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Paul Bruce, who was residing in La Clery, Castries.

According to media reports, Bruce, who was attached to Guardsman Security, was on duty at the gas station when armed men approached.

He was shot in the back of the head and his firearm was stolen.

The men then proceeded to rob the gas station staff of an undetermined sum of cash before making their escape.

Bruce was later pronounced dead at hospital.

Police authorities in the Eastern Caribbean island are investigating the incident.
