Jamaican offered US$150,000 bail on drug charges in Bermuda

A Jamaican has been offered a steep US$150,000 bond after being charged on Friday with conspiring with others to import a kilogramme of cocaine into Bermuda.
Dwayne George Watson, 22, of Mavis Bank, St Andrew, is also accused of having possessed cocaine worth US$240,350 with intent to supply in Bermuda on January 1.
The accused did not enter a plea because he appeared in a magistrate’s court, this ahead of the charges against him being heard in the country’s Supreme Court.
Bail was offered to Watson on condition that he provides a local address, surrenders his passport, does not leave Bermuda without permission of the courts, and reports to the police three times a week.
He is to return to court in October for an arraignment session.
