Jamaican dollar starts trading week $2.65 lower

The Jamaican dollar will start trading on Monday $2.65 weaker than the previous five trading days, according to Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) trading data.

The dollar closed Friday at $132.21 from last Monday's $129.56. It resulted in the local currency returning to the $132 territory.

In March the dollar hit its strongest position in over 12 months when it entered the $124 territory.  Since that time, the local currency has depreciated.

The pound closed at $172.06 starting the trading week at $169.2, while the Canadian dollar closed at $99.83 from $95.19.
