The Jamaica dollar has re-entered $125 territory against its US counterpart on Tuesday as it continues to trade at its strongest position since the start of 2019.
The Jamaican dollar closed trading at $125.87 from $126.10 on the previous trading day. The dollar regained over $11 since the start of February when it closed at $137.06 to US$1. The last time the currency sold for $125 was back on May 14, 2018.
During this round of appreciation, the dollar strengthened following announcements by the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) that it would neither buy nor sell currency into the system over a two week period.
The British Pound closed at $164.56 from $163.07. The Canadian dollar closed at $94.33 from 93.66.
