Jamaican dollar appreciated by $1.24 last week

The Jamaican dollar appreciated by $1.24 during the trading week after weeks of depreciation, according to Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) trading data.

The dollar closed at $134.08 from starting the week at $135.32.

It appreciated amid announcements by the BOJ under its B-FXITT system that it would neither buy nor sell into the system for two weeks during a period of strong inflows.

The pound closed at $171.77 from starting the trading week at $174.18. The Canadian dollar closed at $101.28 from $101.79.
