Jamaican dollar up by 87 cents

The Jamaican dollar appreciated by 87 cents during trading on Monday, according to Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) trading data.

The dollar closed at $125.60 from last Friday’s $126.47, resulting in the first round of appreciation since last Wednesday.

In March the dollar hit its strongest position in over 12 months when it entered the $124 territory. Since that time, the local currency has depreciated.

The pound closed at $163.38 from starting the trading week at $165.53 and the Canadian dollar closed at $94.32 from $95.89.
