Jamaican dollar up by 55 cents

The Jamaican dollar appreciated by 55 cents against its US counterpart on Thursday to re-enter the $133 territory, according to the trading summary of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ).

The dollar closed at $133.00 from $133.55 on the prior day. Comparatively, the British pound closed at $175.04 from $176.15 while the Canadian dollar closed at $102.58 from $105.66

The Bank of Jamaica announced earlier this month that it would sell US$30 million into the system over the next four weeks, arising from its B-FXITT intervention tool.
