Jamaican dollar up by 37 cents

The Jamaica dollar appreciated by 37 cents against its US counterpart on Monday as it continues to trade at its strongest position since the start of 2019.

The Jamaican dollar closed trading at $126.10 from $126.47 on the previous trading day. The dollar regained nearly $11 since the start of February when it closed at $137.06 to US$1.

It strengthened following announcements by the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) that it would neither buy nor sell currency into the system over a two week period.

Meanwhile, the pound closed at $163.07 from $166.21. The Canadian dollar closed at $93.66 from $94.28.
