Jamaican dies from hit-and-run crash in US

A Jamaican man died after he was struck by three vehicles in West Charlotte, United States on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Carlington Jackson.

According to US media reports, he has been working in that country for over a year, and left behind two children in Jamaica.

Reports are that sometime after 7am, Jackson was crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle, likely a Nissan being driven by a woman, which was headed west on Wilkinson Boulevard in the middle lane.

The Jamaican landed in the left lane and was then hit by the two other vehicles, according to the Charlotte police.

The motorist whose car initially hit Jackson reportedly fled the scene without leaving any information.

The area, according to US media reports, was poorly lit, and Jackson was in a crosswalk, but according to a witness, he did not have the right of way.

The police are now searching for the driver whose car initially hit Jackson, for questioning.

The other drivers were interviewed by the authorities.
