Jamaica weather: hazy skies associated with Saharan dust

Jamaica weather forecast at 5am Monday, June 22, 2020 by the Meteorological Service Division. 

SIGNIFICANT FEATURE… A  low-level jet stream across Jamaica .

Comment… Strong winds associated with the low-level jet stream is expected to affect the island over the next few days. Additionally, a reduction in visibility is expected as a result of haze associated with the Sahara dust.

Today: Wind…  Northeasterly, 15 to 20 knots. Wave heights…  1.5 to 2.0 metres.
Tonight: Wind… Southeasterly, 05  knots. Wave heights… 0.5 metre.

INSHORE ON THE SOUTH COAST
Today: Wind...  Southeasterly, 20 to 25 knots. Wave heights…  2.0 to 2.5 metres.
Tonight: Wind… Becoming Northerly, 05 knots. Wave heights… 0.5 metre.

OFFSHORE WINDS AND WEATHER
North Coast... Easterly, 15 to 20 knots. Wave heights... 1.5 to 2.0 metres.
South Coast... Easterly, 20 to 25 knots. Wave heights... 2.0 to 2.5 metres.

MARINE WARNING MESSAGE
A Small Craft Warning remains in effect for inshore areas and offshore areas of the south coast due to strong winds and rough seas.
