Jamaica Tourist Board appoints Connect Worldwide for Japan market

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has selected Connect Worldwide (CWW Japan) to represent Destination Jamaica in the Japanese market.

CWW Japan will support JTB in developing strategies and implementing airline route development, engaging travel trade, executing public relations and social media activities to increase Japanese travel to Jamaica.

“Japan is an important source market for Jamaica” said Donovan White, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “The destination is committed to growing arrivals from this country and we hope to surpass previous totals of up to 20,000 visitors per year.

He said the appointment of Connect Worldwide (CWW Japan) as representatives of the Jamaica Tourist Board is a big step toward achieving that goal.

“We are very pleased that the Jamaica Tourist Board is expanding its commitment to Japan and has selected Connect Worldwide (CWW Japan) to lead their efforts” said President, Marjorie Dewey.

“A premier destination in the Caribbean, Jamaica offers so much to discover for Japan’s experienced travellers. We are confident the Japanese will want to visit the natural world heritage site, sample world famous Blue Mountain coffee, experience distinctive reggae and Jamaican culture, and relax at the beautiful resorts,” Dewey said.

To better understand the Jamaican product, the Jamaica Tourist Board hosted Marjorie on a weeklong immersion trip, exposing her to the offerings that resonate with the Japanese traveller.

Following the trip Marjorie said: "After spending a week experiencing Jamaica from Kingston to Ocho Rios to Montego Bay, I'm confident the Japanese will find so much to love here. They will be drawn to the stunning natural beauty, the resorts and the music. The Japanese will be particularly excited by the quality of Jamaican cuisine and the variety of dining experiences. I'm looking forward to working with the Japanese travel trade and media to reintroduce Jamaica to the Japanese market."

One of the first projects to be undertaken by CWW Japan is the coordination of the JTB’s participation in Tourism Expo Japan 2019. The Jamaican delegation will be led by Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett.
