The Jamaica Karting Association (JKA) has announced that the country will stage the Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy in July.

The announcement was made by the newly-appointed President of the JKA Rugie Misir during the association's annual awards presentation at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston recently.

“One of our main goals for 2020 was to start bringing international-level events to our local shores, and I’m particularly happy to share that the Caribbean Junior Karting Academy will be held right here in Jamaica in July this year," Misir said.

"Our focus now is to continue to grow the sport in terms of participation while increasing our visibility across the region so we can attract even more international events in Jamaica,” he further stated.

Meanwhile, the night belonged to Justin Donaldson, who was crowned overall champion. He was presented with the Abe Ziadie Memorial Trophy.  Ryan Lue and Tommi Gore walked away with second and third places, respectively.

Misi commended the racers and thanked sponsors and partners for supporting the sport in 2019.

He said, “on behalf of the executive board, I’d like to congratulate all our awardees and overall, all our drivers. Your commitment to the sport is what keeps us going.

"Last year was an interesting year; we had some close calls across the championship classes and we were very encouraged by the talent that we saw in the Comer 50 development class. So we’re looking forward to even better things to come from them this season.
