The children are our future, so it's always a refreshing sight to see youngsters at Parliament observing members go about conducting the nation's business at Gordon House.

On Thursday, students from a number of different institutions turned out for the ceremonial opening of Parliament to mark the start of the 2019/20 legislative year.

With its traditional pomp and pageantry, the event was one to behold. In today's photo of the day, Loop News' Marlon Reid captured a group of bright sparks from the St George's Primary School clapping in approval as they observed the show.
