The Jamaica Cancer Society to launch Relay For Life on Wednesday

The Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS) will launch this year’s edition of Relay for Life at Emancipation Park, Kingston at 5.30pm this Wednesday.
In attendance will be the Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, the Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton and the Chairman of the JCS, Earl Jarrett.
The special guest performer will be Tessanne Chin.
Relay For Life is a celebration of cancer survivorship. This year marks the 15th staging of the event, which will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 6.00pm through to Sunday, June 18th to 6.00 am at the Police Officers’ Club.
Relay for Life is the single largest cancer awareness event in the English-speaking Caribbean. It is also the major fundraising event for the Jamaica Cancer Society.
The funds raised are used to assist newly diagnosed cancer patients access treatment, strengthen public health education programmes and to further increase the level of awareness about cancer among Jamaicans.
Jamaica Cancer Society is a non-profit, governmental organization with a mission “to eliminate cancer as a major health problem in Jamaica,” through cancer education, counselling and outreach initiatives.
