Helloo Ladies! So this week I am talking “healthy hair”! The importance of healthy hair, how to get healthy hair and what is, and how to check your hair porosity.
We all love to get our hair coloured, straightened, curled… basically, all us GLAMazons put a lot of stress on our hair. What we fail to do is give our tresses some TLC. As a result, we get dry, frizzy, fragile hair which is the hardest thing to manage!
The cure is to really make a point to have a date with our mane at least once a week - and when I say date, I mean a deep-conditioning date! Let’s call it a hair spa day! So today I am going to give hair treatment tips for the perfect hair spa day!
First you need to check your hair porosity to figure out where you are and what you need to get to the goal of healthy hair.
What is hair porosity? Porosity is your hair’s ability to absorb moisture: it’s broken down into three categories, which are low, normal/medium and high porosity.
Signs of low porosity hair:
Hair takes long to dry, product builds up on top of your hair rather than getting locked in, natural oils sit on your hair rather than get absorbed, hair takes longer to saturate when you fully wet it
Signs of normal porosity hair:
Hair is full of bounce and elasticity, very little maintenance is needed, it holds style well and can be coloured and still be thriving, it takes and holds moisture inside the cuticle
Signs of high porosity hair:
Hair absorbs water easily but requires lots of products, hair looks and feels dry, hair is frizzy and dries quickly

Now that you’ve got the whole 411 on hair porosity and how to find out what porosity level you are, it’s time for you to get the tea on how to show your hair type some TLC.
Low porosity hair: It's hard to get moisture into the hair shaft, but once it absorbs the moisture it will retain it. To raise the cuticle try these tips out:
Use heat: For your deep conditioning masks, combine them with heat maybe under a dryer or even warm towel or shower cap. It helps the products absorb and bind with the hair better.
Use sulfate-free shampoo and apple cider vinegar or baking soda treatments to lose the product build-up.
Normal porosity hair: You’ve hit your goal but continue striving and living your best hair life! Still continue to get that deep conditioning in!
High porosity hair is thirsty and needs a lot of moisture to hydrate her up! Follow these tips to get a hydrated mane:
Use minimal heat, it’s best to air dry if possible.
Start regular deep conditioning masks, so make space in your schedule. Two masks that I love are Ouidad Curl Recovery Melt-down Extreme Repair Mask and Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask.
Rinse with cold water to seal the cuticle and prevent hair frizz.
Always style out your hair with a leave-in conditioner to help seal in moisture and to stay quenched.
