Who’s ready fi di road?! Carnival time is coming up and today I want to touch on what I think is the look for Carnival this year. As we know, the weather is always unpredictable on Carnival day and for the most part some rain always comes and cools us down. So stick around and let me give you a glimpse of styles I’ll be GLAMMING my Carnival queens with this year.

First and foremost, high pony is the way to go! Your hair can survive rain or shine and still have you looking like somebody at the end of the march. It means your hair is off your face and back, allowing you to be on your worst behaviour! Another important factor - the longer the pony the better! I am really into the long braid look – it’s sexy, fun, sharp, sleek and can be done many ways.

For the ponytail without the braid you have the choice to rock it curly, wavy or straight! Do not be afraid to add color and really have fun with your hair. It’s a day of freedom and a chance to show another side of you, so take full advantage! Spice up your look with glitter, coloured hair spray, jewels and hair extensions of course. Even adding coloured hair is fun too!

Now I’m going to share a couple of looks that I did for the Xodus and Xaymaca band launches that were a hit! Again, you can make any look your own by adding your own touches! Accessorize the pony! Here’s a quick breakdown of how to do the style pictured below, which is ideal for my curlistas and my natural gyals.

Step 1: On freshly dry styled hair, part your hair in three sections and clip each section

TIP: Part your hair in an uneven zig-zag pattern so it looks effortless and you do not see any lines

Step 2: Twirl your hair in a bun (all three sections) and bobby-pin them into place

TIP: Keep your bun on the messier side so it doesn't look like a ballet bun - it also gives it a more effortless finish
