Who’s Brittany-Rae?! Well, I’m kind of - sort of - the new girl on the scene, specializing in all things hair and beauty. I’m a ‘Jamerican' who grew up one foot in Jamaica and the other in Miami.

I have recently relocated back to Jamaica after I moved here in 2016 for a year and fell absolutely in love. Fast forward to today, I am a single mother with my four-year-old living our best island life and taking the beauty scene by storm. Jamaica has been the best move yet, I’ve been showered with love and opportunities and I am forever grateful.

Coming from New York City, where I started my career in cosmetology, I worked with a lot of socialites, dope influential women and cool brands, such as Alice and Olivia and Vivienne Tam. I landed a position at one of the top agencies called Glamsquad, which allowed me to work with the elite. And that gave me the experience and inspiration to take the leap to building my own brand -  Brittany-Rae. Bringing my brand to Jamaica has been such a positive move and I’m excited to document and share my light with you.

I am a Master Hairstylist, based at Blow by Blow in Kingston. I specialize in all hair types, cuts, color and styling – and I’m absolutely loving it. I also do a lot of freelance work (which is my background) with all the fabulous women in Jamaica doing their hair on television sets, photoshoots and weddings.

It’s been an enlightening transition and I’ve worked with some very amazing ladies such as Yendi Phillipps (Miss Universe 1st Runner Up, TV Presenter, Model), Kerry Ann Clarke (Kerry Man Woman Home/The Collection Moda) and Tessanne Chin (Singer/Songwriter) just to name a few.

Currently, I am curating a hair product line which will debut in 2019. So, be on the lookout! There’s a lot brewing and I’m excited to take you all on my journey on the glam and not so glamorous parts of releasing a product line (helpful for all my #BossBabes out there.) …. Moving right along…

I recently partnered with Loop Jamaica to bring you guys all the scoop on what’s trending, the latest in fashion, cool quick tutorials for hair and my go-to hair and beauty products. I also want to use this as a platform to spread love and light, to really elevate women to form a sisterhood in Jamaica.

My brand embodies and celebrates women’s movements and their moments. I am a true believer that when women come together, whether it be in the same arena or different, we are a force that can’t be shot down. Obviously, we are the future… hellooo!!!... as a matter of fact, we are the NOW!

One of my goals for this column is to be very interactive with my readers. So, please share your feedback, comments and ideas. We have so many dope “creatives” in Jamaica who I’m hoping to connect with on different topics so that they too can share their expertise. As I said earlier, I am really excited to have this platform to share all my knowledge in beauty and lifestyle with you guys so look out for “Its Brittany-RAAAEEE!!!” on LOOP Jamaica every Friday and stay connected.

Next week, I’ll be bringing some dope looks for hair to give you some inspiration for styling different lengths, as well as some quick and easy ways to transform makeup from day to night. Stay tuned….  RAAAEEEE!!!
