Isolated patient falls to death at Chest Hospital
A female, who was a suspected COVID-19 patient, reportedly fell to her death after an escape attempt from the isolation ward at the National Chest Hospital on Wednesday morning.
The woman reportedly fell in a vent and sustained fatal injuries. No motive has yet been offered for her reported attempted escape which led to her subsequent death.
Checks with the Constabulary Communication Unit, the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, confirmed the incident.
"She fell to her death, we don't have the exact details. There is an investigating officer at the scene but it is understood that the woman had been in the isolation ward at the hospital. It is suspected that she may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus," an officer at the CCU told Loop News.
Jamaica has recorded 745 cases of coronavirus with 10 deaths. There are 15 persons in hospital isolation, four persons in facility isolation and 97 persons in home isolation, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health.
Investigators were still at Chest Hospital probing the tragic incident up to publication time.
