The Integrity Commission has issued a written apology to Mayor of Port Maria and former Petrojam board member, Richard Creary, over an erroneous statement in the agency's report on its corruption probe of the state-owned Petrojam oil refinery.

The Integrity Commission admitted that it erred when it reported that Creary was present when former Petrojam general manager Floyd Grindley was interviewed for the job.

In its apology to Creary, the commission said it "sincerely regrets its error and wishes to unreservedly apologize to you for any distress, embarrassment or inconvenience that it may have caused you."

Creary had demanded that the commission issue an "immediate retraction" and a public apology. He had also indicated that he would take legal action against the agency for the report which he said "is fraught with errors and inaccuracies" and has caused him undue stress and damage to his reputation.
