Jamaica and West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has been ruled out of the rest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after suffering an injury.

The 27-year-old, who only just returned from a one-year ban from the sport, suffered a partial tear in his right hamstring while fielding at long off for Islamabad United against Karachi Kings on Sunday.  The incident occurred in the very first over of the match.

Russell had been eager to get back on the pitch fellow the suspension for a doping whereabouts violation.

Russell’s injury will also be a concern for Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders who named the hard-hitting Jamaican on their retained list for the new season.

The length of time Russell will be out of the game is yet to be determined.
