A firearm with several rounds of ammunition was handed over to the police on Terrence Avenue in the Kingston 10 area on Thursday, August 16.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that about 10:30 a.m., lawmen were called to a residence in the community to quell a dispute. On their arrival, a Berretta 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition was handed over to them.

Based on preliminary information gathered, it is alleged that two men were involved in a dispute at the premises before the arrival of the police team, and one of the men threw the weapon on top of the roof of a building. The gun was subsequently retrieved and given to the police.

A man was taken into custody in relation to the seizure. His identity is being withheld pending further investigation by the police.
