Michael Lee-Chin has distanced himself from an advertisement, bearing his name and image, promoting how people can become rich by working from home using binary options.

The advertisement, served by AdChoice, prominently features several photos of Lee-Chin and appears on local websites with variations of the text "Generous Philanthropist ... wealthiest Jamaican shares ground breaking opportunity with all of Jamaica".

Lee-Chin, in a statement issued on Tuesday about the ad, said: "I am appalled by this unauthorized and illegitimate use of my name and image. I'm concerned that there may be people who may not realize that these ads are not legitimate and that I have nothing to do with them. It is a good reminder to always be alert to potential online schemes.”

The statement added that Lee-Chin does not endorse or promote “such get rich working from home using binary options schemes”.
