I Am The One for Jamaica Oaks
Leading trainer Anthony Nunes is all but assured a third classic winner of the season when his 1000 Guineas heroine, I AM DI ONE, faces 10 rivals in Saturday’s Jamaica Oaks at Caymanas Park.
The big filly will go to post as an overwhelming favourite after easily beat her main rival, LADY BLUE, in last month’s 1000 Guineas, making all at a mile with Barbadian jockey Simon Husbands.
After winning the Guineas in only her second start, I AM DI ONE, a daughter of 2008 Governor’s Cup winner, IT IS I, is expected to relish the additional two furlongs of the Oaks.
The big filly, with Husbands again in the saddle, is expected to leave her stablemates, PRINCESS AVA and ENVISAGED, battling champion trainer Wayne DaCosta’s LADY BLUE and Gary Subratie’s CASUAL DRINK for the runner-up spot.
Six-time former champion, jockey Omar Walker is aboard LADY BLUE, while Shane Ellis will partner CASUAL DRINK.
The Jamaica Oaks is the ninth of 10 events on the day and is scheduled to run off at 4:55 pm.
Post time on the card is 12:10 pm.
