Hundreds turn out to pay final respect to the late Lynvale Bloomfield
Hundreds of mourners are gathered at the Open Bible Church in Portland to pay their final respect to slain Opposition People's National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament (MP) Lynvale Bloomfield.
Among those in attendance at the Thanksgiving Service that is now underway are Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips, former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, Government ministers, Opposition MPs and other politicians.
Screams and exclamations of joy erupted when Simpson Miller exited her sports utility vehicle, flanked by her bodyguards.
Despite the cheers, she could not hide her pain.
However as shouts of 'Portia' 'Portia' 'Portia' erupted from the overzealous People's National Party supporters, she managed to eke out a smile and in her inimitable style, she hugged and kissed all the adoring fans she could as her worried looking bodyguards tried their best to do their jobs of keeping her safe.
Simpson Miller is clearly still loved by party faithful and cheers even erupted as she delivered a reading of a scripture lesson.
Bloomfield was found murdered at his Portland home on February 2.
More details on the Thanksgiving service to follow.
