Hue Menzies names strong Reggae Girlz squad for Pan Am Games
Jamaica's Reggae Girlz.
National senior women's football team head coach Hue Menzies has named a strong 18-member squad for the upcoming Pan American in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11.
Menzies retains 11 of the players who were either part of the World Cup qualifying campaign or last month's World Cup tournament in France.
The University of Florida's Rachel Smith earns a first-time call-up.
The squad will stage a training camp in Jamaica from July 19 to July 23.
The Reggae Girlz will contest Group A with Mexico, Colombia, and Paraguay.
Jamaica will open their campaign against Mexico on July 28. Four days later, on August 1, Jamaica will play their second game against Colombia. Their final preliminary round game will take place on August 4 against Paraguay.
All games will be played at the Estadio Universidad.
Unlike the men's teams at the tournament, the women's teams are without age restrictions. Brazil is the defending gold medalist, but will not be participating in the Games.
