Houdini's Magic wins tough open allowance race with topweight

Lightweight jockey Wesley Henry on Saturday landed a two-timer at Caymanas Park including HOUDINI'S MAGIC in a tough open allowance race at 1500 metres, defying topweight 57.0 kilos.

HOUDINI'S MAGIC  had skipped the class last month, jumping to grade one, and stunned CAMPESINO at odds of 10-1 in the Eros Trophy at 1400 metres.

Henry again put the five-year-old in front, running rivals off their legs down the backstretch to complete the distance in a fast 1:31.3 ahead of 21-1 outsider IAN LINKS.

SUPERLUMINAL,  the 6-5 favourite,  struggled to keep pace down the backstretch, was eased by Omar Walker inside the final furlong and finished last in the eight-horse field.

Henry, who had earlier opened the programme aboard THORNHILL MISS at a mile, shared riding honours with Philip Parchment on the 11-race card.

Parchment rode back-to-back winners, COMMANDING AVIATOR in the eighth and 14-1 outsider ROYAL VIBES in the ninth.

Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Wednesday.
