Holness lauds Bartlett for strategies to secure the hospitality sector
Prime Minister Andrew Holness
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has given Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett high marks for the steps he has taken to ensure the security of tourists arriving in the island.
Speaking recently, Holness said: "I had very in-depth, very serious discussions with the minister of tourism about ensuring that the destination Jamaica is safe and secure for Jamaicans and visitors alike. And I am satisfied that Minister Bartlett has engaged the necessary expertise, and has himself launched the various initiatives that will ensure the safety and security of our visitors who come to enjoy a vacation here."

Last month Bartlett welcomed international security expert, Dr Peter Tarlow, to the island to head security audits that are being conducted on hotels and attractions island-wide.
The audit, led by the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCO) as part of efforts to ramp up the island's destination assurance programme, was part of several initiatives that were implemented to ensure the safety and security of the national destination.

The prime minister also said his Administration is committed to the safety and security of Jamaican citizens.
"On top of that, you should also consider the actions that this Government has taken to ensure the safety of the island itself and our citizens, and you know our commitment to ensuring that we make Jamaica safe and secure," he said.
