Best-Selling author, Elvira Guzman is seeking to empower Jamaican youth through the release of her latest book "The Day You Left".

"The Day You Left" tackles the impact of fatherlessness on children and teenagers, and offers practical solutions to heal.

Guzman, who is a Hollywood-based publicist and former public relations and branding director for Steve Harvey is no stranger to Jamaica having spoken at several local conferences and featured by several local media houses over the years.

She says the book, which was recently released on Amazon, is useful in helping broken children, teenagers and even adults become whole again and is also a great guide for parents and educators.

According to Guzman, she was inspired to write the book noting the negative impact of fatherlessness which is prevalent in minority communities, and is an issue which she can relate to, after having both her parents imprisoned while she was only 14 years old.

“I feel it’s important that children read my book because growing up broken is not a way to live life. Not only do we not experience joy, but we do not grow in the ways that are necessary to fulfil our purpose in life” she notes.

In the meantime, Guzman who has in the past assisted several local charities including ‘Eve for Life’ is currently working on getting the books in Jamaican schools at a discounted rate so as many students as possible can have access to the well-needed information.

“I do plan to get “The Day You Left” in schools because I definitely feel that it is a necessary subject that schools are currently not teaching but is vital for survival” she says.

The reviews since the release of the book in May have been great with philanthropist and mother of international recording artiste Wiz Khalifa, Peachie Wimbush-Polk declaring that ‘Ms Guzman’s latest project is just what’s needed in these unprecedented times” while Beyonce’s Road Manager Alan Floyd asserting that ‘Ms Guzman speaks from the heart.”

The books are currently available online at but will soon be in select bookstores in Jamaica.

Guzman is also a speaker, television show host and author of three other books ‘Purpose: Awaken and Succeed”, “Your Blueprint” and ‘How to awaken and stay awake: A guide to Unlocking Your Diving Power Within.’”
