High-speed chase leads to gun seizure and arrest in Clarendon

The police have arrested a man and a firearm was reportedly seized following a police operation in Clarendon.

Reports are that about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police carrying out an exercise to clamp down on criminals in the parish saw a vehicle with a man on Glenmore Road, close to the Bustamante Highway. The actions of the occupant of the vehicle aroused the suspicion of the law enforcement personnel, and the driver was signaled to stop the vehicle.

Reports are that the man disobeyed the signal and sped off.

A high-speed chase ensued between the police and the driver, including along a one-way road in the parish.

Information reaching Loop News is that the driver eventually lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into an oncoming car.

The targeted vehicle was searched by the police and a firearm was reportedly found and seized.

The injured man was taken to the hospital, where he has been admitted under police guard.
