Haitian among five held in connection with Trelawny drug bust

A Haitian national is among five men taken into custody by the Trelawny police in connection with Saturday night's seizure of about 1,500 pounds of ganja, estimated to value $7.7 million.

The other four men held in connection with the seizure are Jamaican nationals.

Three motor vehicles were also seized during the police operation.

Reports are that about 7pm, the police were on patrol along the Stewart Town main road in Trelawny when they intercepted and stopped the three motor vehicles.

During a search, the drugs were found. The vehicles and the drugs were seized and the five men taken into custody for questioning.

The Area One Narcotics Division is investigating.
