Hagley Park Road improvement moves into new phase

Motorists and other road users are being advised to brace for further delays when using Hagley Park Road in the vicinity of Portia Simpson Miller Square in St Andrew.

The multi-million dollar road improvement project taking place in the area will move into a new phase on Friday with the start of extensive drainage improvement works along a section of Hagley Park Road in the vicinity of Portia Simpson Miller Square/Three Miles and Waltham Park Road.

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that they should plan for delays when travelling through the area.

Acting Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Ramona Lawson said that activities will be concentrated on the eastbound side of the carriageway where heavy excavation will be undertaken in preparation for the installation of various pipes and culverts.

The activities, she said, will only impact the curbside eastbound lane which takes motorists towards Half Way Tree. Motorists will be restricted to using a single lane.

However, two lanes of traffic will be maintained for motorists travelling from Half-Way Tree towards Three Miles.

This phase of the project, which is expected to continue for the next few months, will extend beyond the current location towards Half-Way-Tree, Lawson said.
