GWEST stock up 20% to lead gains
GWEST Corporation led with double-digit gains in Thursday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
GWEST gained 20 per cent to close at $1.70. It was followed by Everything Fresh, up 9.20 per cent to close at $1.90.
The biggest loser of the day was ISP Finance, down 40 per cent from $20 to $12.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 1,275.86 points (0.33 per cent) to close at 385,506.36.
The JSE Index advanced by 1,426.57 points ( 0.38 per cent) to close at 380,652.24. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,565.74 points ( 0.38 per cent) to close at 417,788.14.
The JSE Select Index advanced by 122.98 points ( 1.27 per cent) to close at 9,839.44. The Junior Market Index declined by 3.32 points ( 0.10 per cent) to close at 3,261.36. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 5.94 points ( 3.73 per cent) to close at 165.27.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 45 stocks of which 21 advanced, 14 declined and 10 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 1,531,106 units valued at over $30,559,789.52. Lasco Distributors Limited was the volume leader with 156,463 units (10.22 per cent) followed by Kingston Wharves Limited with 139,281 units (9.10 per cent) and Victoria Mutual Investments Ltd Ordinary Shares With 137,604 Units (8.
