GWest Corporation led gains during Thursday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE). The stock closed up 11 per cent to close at $0.91.
It started the week at an all-time low of $0.70 following the release of its second year of losses. Also on the day, Cargo Handlers led declines down 15 per cent to close at $9.05.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 4,474.61 points ( 0.91 per cent) to close at 486,889.92.
The JSE Index declined by 4,586.34 points ( 0.92 per cent) to close at 493,085.59. The Junior Market Index declined by 23.72 points ( 0.76 per cent) to close at 3,083.83. The JSE USD Equities Index closed at 192.13. The JSE Financial Index declined by 1.31 points ( 0.97 per cent) to close at 133.15.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 64 stocks of which 21 advanced, 33 declined and 10 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 18,666,516 units valued at over $210.5 million. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 7,539,935 units (40.39 per cent)followed by Carreras Limited with 4,714,462 units (25.26 per cent) and Scotia Group Jamaica with 1,021,874 units (5.47 per cent) .
