'Gunslinger' who was killed by cop after he shot a man, identified

The man who was shot and killed minutes after he reportedly carried out a brazen daylight gun attack on another male in the Elgin Street section of Denham Town, West Kingston on Wednesday, has been identified.s

He is 27-year-old Cedric Thomas of Albert Street, Kingston 14.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 3:10 p.m., Thomas reportedly shot and injured a man in Denham Town.

While fleeing from the scene with a firearm in his hand, he was allegedly challenged by a police officer and was shot.

He was pronounced dead at hospital.

A Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six 9mm cartridges was seized.

The matter was reported to the Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) and the Independent

Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), which are investigating the incident.
